The town of Truckee comes to life in the summer and becomes a great destination for music, outdoor festivals, food markets and much more. The Truckee River runs 121 miles long and is the sole outlet of Lake Tahoe. The river is home to the native Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, rainbow trout and brown trout, making it a favorite for local anglers. There’s also family-friendly whitewater rafting, tubing and kayaking on the river at various times throughout the year.

The Truckee River Legacy Trail offers miles of paved trails, ideal for a family bike ride or evening run. The Sagehen Creek Trail and Emigrant Trail are also great options for hiking and discovering the first bloom of Truckee’s wildflowers.
